Next Generation PDS

This session will provide an outline of the Government’s proposed shorter PDS regime. It presents an opportunity for workshop participants to judge whether the next generation PDSs are enhanced, easier to understand disclosure or stripped-back, over-simplified documents.

In focus will be the amendments to the shorter PDS which is expected to include an increased document in terms of length, the reduction of generic content in place of more product-specific information and a comprehensive fee disclosure regime.

Mega tax workshop: IMR, MIT and FIF

This workshop will provide an opportunity to hear from experts on the application of:

  • replacement FIF measures - 'Anti-roll-up rule';
  • new Managed Investment Trust (MIT) definition, relevant to the capital/revenue election and reduced withholding tax; and
  • scope of the proposed Investment Manager Regime (IMR).

The workshop is a "must attend" for anyone who is working in the funds industry and has foreign investors in their funds or is managing and/or investing in offshore funds.

Workshop A Session 2, Thursday 12 August, 1.15pm - 2.15pm

Meeting the credit reform challenge

This workshop will explore the issues for financial advisers and lenders in the new world of credit licensing. It will provide an opportunity to share lessons learned in the introduction of this new regime and to explore the issues still remaining.

The many new consumer credit obligations differ depending on the type of loans and the level of assistance - consumer credit, margin lending, unfair contracts. The workshop is designed to involve participants in:

  • deciding what obligations will apply and when;
  • working out how to deal with the differences between the consumer credit and margin lending regimes; and
  • addressing the challenges of conducting unsuitability assessments.
